Knotts next coaster ?

Unread postby thom25 » Thu Jan 05, 2012 11:42 am

The rumors have been swirling around the net for close to a year that Knotts next coaster will be a giga. While I'd prefer an Intamin, I think it's possible Knotts could be getting a B&M giga now that CW is getting one. They certainly need a world class ride to compete with SFMM and Lex Luthor and a giga makes sense. Did CF enter into a 3 coaster deal with B&M?

That would be awesome but where would they put it? I think they're also having landlocked issues similar to Hershey. I guess if they could build it out across the road and around their parking lot, then it could happen.

There have been multiple drawings on the net showing how it could fit within their existing space. When you look at places like Blackpool, where there is a will, there is a way.

On the decision for Knott's 'Mega' or 'Giga' Coaster being either B&M or Intamin it depends on a few things... Most importantly I think it has to do a lot with how Leviathan at Canada's Wonderland turns out to be. If it turns out to be a big success Knott's next coaster will most likely be B&M. But if Knott's is planing to go with a non-launched coaster larger than Millennium Force <3 I think it will be Intamin.

I agree, they need to wait and see how popular Leviathan is.

I believe given the length of time it takes to design a giga, I believe that decision has already been made. Let's be honest, Leviathan is going to be a HUGE hit with the GP and suspect given the latest pics, will be very well received by coaster enthusiast too

Well I'm hearing that Knotts maybe making an announcement sometime in 2012 stating 2012 is Perilous Plunge last season. The removal will make way for the installation of a B&M Hypercoaster not giga for 2013. Also the Giga is rumored to be going into SFMM in log jammers old spot for 2013, if either of these rumors hold water looks like the west coast will finally be getting a B&M hyper and an Intamin giga. Hopefully some solid info will come out at the up coming West Coast Bash!

I think a giga would be good in that area.

Hey guys new to the forums so putting my input on so far my favorite thread! :D
The coaster that comes to Knott's I bet will not be a launch coaster. They already have Xcelerator, and this coaster needs a big lift hill and the coaster would most likely mainly hover over the park. Since Leviathan is B&M, I'm just guessing Cedar Fair would use them instead of Intamin.
The Perilous Plunge removal is new to my ears. I imagine that ride is some maintenance to keep up and a requires a ridiculous amount of water. Considering they already have two other water rides, this is a definite possibility for removal. I've only been on this once the various times I've been to Knott's because it just gets you ridiculously wet and isn't fun to me at all, so I wouldn't miss it!

Welcome to the thread and forum, while this is my favorite topic as well. This is the first I've heard of Perilous Plunge's removal and am a bit surprised since it's only 12 years old. Looking at the way Hershey has installed Skyrush, I've never considered a ride removal since where there is a will, there is a way to make it fit. I'm also surprised you think Knotts will get a hyper, and not a giga, since SFMM has a large hyper already, and would need a giga to get "noticed". Technically, Knotss already has a hyper with Xcelerator too. I think what's clear is that big rides are coming to both parks very soon, and can't wait to see how it all develops. THANK YOU very much for the pictures and updates from the West Coast!

I still think giga for knotts and wing-rider for SFMM Image
