Heres another article on the 2 NEW rides at Knoebels in 2013. It does say that they HOPE to test the final trains for Flying Turns in LATE WINTER, BUT the way the article reads we might still be OUT of LUCK for Flying Turns YET again. Atleast thats the feeling I get from this article.

StratosFEAR Construction- And Coaster Re-Tracking!

Unread postby BrandonStrouphauer » Sun Jan 13, 2013 11:54 pm

This weekend, ALT went up to Knoebel's, Where, with park permission, we took pictures of construction on StratosFEAR, and the CrazySub! (the two new attractions for 2013!). Also, we took pictures of some major re-tracking going on with Phoenix and Twister.

First, here's a look at the prepping work for StratosFEAR. The ride is going to be in this area (this is right across the bridge that goes to Twister)
I think the tent is where the base will be going.

They dug for electrical wires.

Twister re-tracking!

They re-tracked a TON on Phoenix! This is the first turnaround.

Now, onto CrazySub construction! (also new for 2013)

These are arms/supports for the ride.

This is where the actual ride will be going.

NOW, FINALLY....Flying Turns update! We heard from the park that a test car will be arriving next month, and testing should begin shortly after... Could 2013 be the year? We'll have to wait and see, FINGERS CROSSED!

This is the transfer track, which we had photos of them working on this Summer.

Thanks! We plan on going back to Knoebel's in March to get another update on the progress!

Umm... :)

I was at the park walking around the day before StratosFEAR was installed. The park was already in the process of getting ready for opening weekend. The Roto-Jets got a new fence, with the design the same as the Flyer's, only with different colors. Over at one spot, I saw some test bogies for the Flying Turns. They weren't painted, or had the bodies. Just frame and wheel bogies. However, I saw another frame with wheel bogies very similar to the test one that was already painted and under wraps. There were two other bogies stored on the storage track on the Flying Turns. They also built a new roof for their flat-screen TV. It has the same design as the roof as you enter the queue for the Flying Turns.

Other things to note was that they built a new picnic pavilion next to Pavilion S (in the back, near Skloosh). In that pavilion it appears that Knoebels acquired a batch of Lusse AutoSkooters. Most of them were of the same design that Knoebels use. There were a few of what might be an older design and a more modern design before the company went under. I also found one of the cars from the High Speed Thrill Coaster. I hope they will clean up that car and put it in their museum.

Opening day is almost 2 weeks away!!! :D

Boy, I am surprised how good the ride looks. I think it will be a perfect addition to the park and very appealing to a wide range of guests. Has anyone heard what kind of lighting package it will have?
