For those following Pier Park at the Miracle Strip in Panama City, the old Galaxy track has arrived at the park for the start of construction. As previously reported, 2014 will see the return many of the former rides with the first shipment of Galaxy track now on site. Obviously once constructed, it is in serious need of some paint.
It is still projected that the Starliner will rejoin the park in 2015.
A lot has happened over the last week. The Galaxy coaster parts pictured above, were partially reconstructed (below)this week over in Frank Brown Park to start the refurbishment process so it can open in 2014. They only had it up for a few days and has now been put back in storage.
The park continues to confirm the Starliner is slated for a 2015 opening.
There is currently no construction equipment or land markers on the property, BUT signs have appeared on Powell Adams Road, and on the Pier Park side of the property (below).
Pier Park at Miracle Strip is starting construction this week for their planned expansion to include a Galaxy coaster in 2014, and the return of the Skyliner in 2015.
Heavy equipment is on site, survey markers surround the site, and the official ground breaking is this week. We've also included a short video panning the area from the existing site with rides, to where the new rides will be installed.
Heavy construction equipment and RIDES are on site at Pier Park, starting with land preparation. With an expected opening in April, we expect to see a lot of activity on the site, and our local correspondent Charlie Thayer will be providing exclusive coverage for All-American Thrills. As you can see from the videos and pictures below, ride refurbishment has started along. We are hearing that Pier Park itself will close the first of next week for ride relocation.
Thanks for the update Charlie, and know you will keep all of our readers posted on this exciting new expansion of a classic amusement park.
Well progress has really started to pick up at Miracle Strip as Pier Park starts it move to across the street. Thanks to Charlie for providing the pictures and videos.
These pictures are of the rides at the old park being dismantled, and you can see how fast they are moving
The following pictures are the current construction progress at the new site. They are moving fast here too, and the videos below at the end really paint a complete picture of the work to date on the site.
The videos below are all short and help paint a picture of the entire area and work that is going on in each section. Probably especially helpful for those not from or familiar with the area.
