Now that I think about it, the Roller Soaker station could be used as a tropical kind of sit down restaurant. Hershey has two or three other in the park, but one in the Boardwalk with a beach themeing would be interesting. They would have to renovate the station a little bit, but I think it would be cool to see.

maybe they will just simply reuse the station if they ever to decide to add a new type of water coaster such as a "hydromagnetic one" that dollywood is installing. I've been on of those years ago and they're alot of fun! It would be a great addition to the park and would utilize the area above the sprayground nicely without taking up landspace. I would deff like to see a mat racer added as well & also something similar to Dp & WWK's Aquablast. Hot tubs would be a great addition for older guests wanting to relax.

Hot tubs would be an interesting addition no doubt. Does any water park have them? On a serious note, I do think a mat racer and/or a water coaster would be great additions. I've heard the water coasters have some operational issues, while their capacity is a fraction of that a multi-slide racer could be. Given the popularity of the Boardwalk, I could see both being seriously considered in their long term plan. By leaving some of Soaker's building there, they certainly could be re-purposed for a water coaster.

Look to Wildebeest and Mammoth at Holiday World for any and all issues a ProSlide Hydro Coaster can have. Mammoth has had some major issues, with the whole ride having to stop if a raft doesnt make it up a hill, each raft can only have 1050lbs of weight, and the slide is eating up the bottom of the rafts far quicker than expected. Granted Holiday World has done MASSIVE amounts of training because the few times it stopped while I was on it, we seriously waited no longer than 30-45 seconds before we started up again. Capacity would be pretty decent as well. Can only have X Amount of rafts at any point in time though.

Great Wolf Lodges water parks have hot tubs, but beyond that, any amusement park one doesnt I believe

The hot tubs i just cant see happening cause it already gets crowded enough at the boardwalk and just think how crowded that would get. I dont know about you but i dont really feel like waiting in line for a half an hour for a hot tub.

Nearly 100% of Roller Soaker is Gone...

Unread postby BrandonStrouphauer » Thu Jan 10, 2013 5:21 pm

Hey guys! Here's this week's Roller Soaker update! (And from the looks of it, probably the second-to-last Soaker update, and then Boardwalk 2013 Expansion updates will begin!)

A bit of an overview....
Image

I know it's kinda hard to see in this picture, but some of the concrete footers for Soaker are gone...
Image

And now onto the more exciting portion of the update. This is all the track that remains for Soaker! (with the exception of a few pieces of station track)
Image

This was some station track taken apart, I think this section would have been exiting the station, and about to begin the lift.
Image

In the next two photos, you can see ironworkers taking apart bolts on supports and track. We want to give a huge THANK YOU to them for working out in this cold to benefit our personal enjoyment!

Here are two pictures from one of the ironworkers, taken from inside the construction site, on their break.

AND NOW, for the second part of our update, there was some Comet re-tracking going on!

Thanks!!

Thanks!

WOW - GREAT update. Sad to see Soaker go by the wayside and sold for scap, but the prime space available will certainly help expand the Boardwalk.

Unread postby BrandonStrouphauer » Thu Jan 10, 2013 7:51 pm

Hersheypark posted the 2013 ticket prices for Springtime in the Park. LAST year tickets were $28.95. But now they ADD the $0.85 Amusement Tax onto the ticket price, it seems. It used to be $0.75, included in the ticket price.

Click the link for the full ticket prices, 1-day, 2-day, and 3-day tickets are available.

They re-track sections and layers of all their wooden coasters, ever year.
