I was reading Hershey parks Facebook page. If you scroll all the way down to Feb 17 it shows a picture of "Clifford the crane" above it says:
It’s just about time for Clifford the big red crane to head off into the sunset. He’s been a valuable member of the team; he’s lifted thousands of tons into the air over the last 3 months…we really couldn't have done it without him. In honor of his service, we’d like to dedicate a song to him…all together now, “Happy Trails to you, until we meet again…”
Could they be hinting in the "until we meet again" part that they will be using the crane for a future project?Maybe for a new ride in the board walk?Or maybe a drop tower :?

Welcome to the forum Mrush, and what a GREAT observation. Yes, it is possible, though I suspect it's more of a coincidence, but you never know. Certainly back in February, they had to have an inkling that RS was going on the chopping block, but using a big crane like Clifford, could be a stretch, but who knows. That certainly will be a question ALT asks Hershey no doubt.

Since Clifford is 200 feet tall, I think it would be overkill for a water slide, and too short for a big drop tower, which I'd love to see Hershey get.

I can say with 100% certainty is that if Clifford returns, ALT will have all the breaking news.

Welcome to the discussion, and hope you continue sharing your thoughts.

In addition to Hershey removing the Roller Soaker, Hershey should also relocate Wild Mouse to another part of the park, there is a big grassy where from looking from Google Maps it can easily fit. The area "between Fahrenheit and Wildcat" That area and the area Roller Soaker already occupies would allow them to do a big expansion. ;)

I agree they should relocate Wild Mouse, they could fit 4 or 5 more water slides in that area. As far as the area between FH and WC, I think there's catering areas in between there that get used pretty often. But, if they were to remove the Midway Tent, they could put Wild Mouse in that section.

In Midway America there is some work being done on the overflow area of Lighting Racer.

Stay tuned as we get more pictures from these projects. Hershey probably will be making an announcement on this project soon.

Hersheypark has just confirmed on their Facebook page that "roller soaker is closing to make room for additional water attractions in 2013, more details coming soon soon!" Who else is as as excited as me? Also note, they said attractionS, Plural, could this mean more than one??

Hersheypark Announces 2013 Boardwalk Additions!

Unread postby BrandonStrouphauer » Wed Dec 19, 2012 5:09 pm

Here it is.... "More water = more fun. At least that’s what you, our guests, have been telling us! Look for new attractions including a spray ground and an estimated 5,000 square feet of water play area! In 2013 you’ll find more shade, more seating, and more room to play in the Boardwalk." Posted on HP's FB page...

Now, here's MY thoughts..... I think this is an inexpensive, quick, easy, and possibly temporary solution, to prevent dead-space after Roller Soaker's removal. BUT, this does cover the main "image" of The Boardwalk, it will allow guests to cool off, relax, and have a fun time getting wet in the elements... Hershey told me on their FB Page that there will be a name- YAY. :D Personally, I'll remain optimistic, and I look forward to splashing around this area in 2013. Because no matter what, it'll be fun and refreshing for everyone in any family.

Here is a link to a basic video on Sprayground's...

These areas seem pretty cool, and VERY customizable.

KEEP IN MIND, these concept arts are NOT from Hershey- we can assume Hershey's will look similar to something like this, but it might not.

When I first read this on HP's FB page, I was skeptical. But I thought about it the past hour or so, and since Hershey hasn't really been 100% clear on the details of the new area, I will continue to look forward to the Spray Ground, and remain optimistic.

THINK ABOUT IT, this attraction will likely allow guests instant access, it seems high capacity, and it lets guests play and cool-off quickly, and for however how long they choose. A HUGE complaint about The Boardwalk is the lines, and lack of seating on busy days. I think having a large area similar to ones in those videos above, will solve many of those complaints. And Hershey DID say there will be seating in the new area! :D I am EXCITED to see more. :D

No matter what, I look forward to taking advantage of the Sprayground area in 2013! Because I LOVED splashing under Soaker's area!

What are YOUR thoughts?
