They really did, and as I understand it, that is standard operating procedure. It's the restraints being wrapped up on what looks like a pallet, is the most unusual. I think it's safe to assume the old restraints are being shipped back - YAY. Hopefully better and more comfortable lap bars will be delivered in exchange.

They may just be putting the restraints in maintenance shop for the winter month(s)... I don't see them changing an Air Time Wing Riders Restraints... If you use your body to follow the movements of the train, the restraints never hurt... This coming from someone who rode it 20x in an hour and a half. I got off and took on Great Bear then went back for more... :ugeek: Rush is fine just the way it was... Winged Seats or Middle, It was an absolutely amazing ride.

I agree they "may" only be storing the restraints, but continue to highly doubt it.

Has there ever been a coaster with so many complaints from the GP about the restraints? Doesn't it strike you as odd that you could ride SO many times in a row, on a $25m ride that is brand new? Enthusiasts like us LOVE the ride just as it is (no doubt), but it's equally true that GP isn't so enthralled with it.

There is no doubt the ride has some issues since it was closed early. Those restraints could be wrapped for storage, but believe we're going to see a "new" Rushy next year.

Hersheypark Boardwalk Expansion Rumor

Unread postby BrandonStrouphauer » Mon Dec 10, 2012 12:54 am

From Screamscape...

"2013 - Boardwalk Expansion - Rumor - (12/10/12) I’m hearing that we can expect an announcement soon from Hersheypark regarding the future expansion plans for the Boardwalk area of the water (ie: new water attractions) which should also include the long awaited confirmation that Roller Soaker is leaving. Look for this to happen sometime in the next month."

Should be interesting, to say the least, we will keep you posted as further rumors and/or confirmations come out!

Interesting to say the least is an understatement. Sounds like the rumors of RS being sold are true. Can not wait to see what water goodness they have in store for us in 2013.

REPORT: Roller Soaker's Deconstruction has Begun....

Unread postby BrandonStrouphauer » Wed Dec 12, 2012 5:58 pm

We have received a report from a resident in Hershey that the queue ramp leading up to Soaker's station has been removed, or is at least partially down. If true, this would most likely mean that Roller Soaker is not returning for the 2013 season. We have someone checking out the area this evening, and we will will be able to confirm if Soaker, indeed, is deconstructed.

The next question is...will Roller Soaker be replaced for 2013? It's very odd for Hershey to announce a new attraction in the middle of Winter...but, The Claw wasn't announced until the Winter/Springtime back in '02-'03. So we will see what happens........what do all of you think is going on?

Hello,

(I have NOT been on for a while.)

I think that when Hersheys ready to release the info then it will be confirmed if soakers leaving. Maybe there just putting up a new ramp for all we know. I saw NEW wood on Knoebels Flume ramp, it could be routine maintnance.

Could this be Park Confirmation that Soaker is Leaving?

Unread postby BrandonStrouphauer » Wed Dec 12, 2012 11:31 pm

Recently, Hersheypark's website was edited to say, "Hersheypark- featuring 11 coasters and The Boardwalk at Hersheypark!"

Earlier TODAY, it said "12 coasters"

Could this be confirmation from the park that the rumors are TRUE, and Roller Soaker IS being removed??

We will be taking pictures from outside the park tomorrow, along the road where Roller Soaker is located, and we will let you know if the deconstruction rumor is true or not. Look for that to be posted around 6pm tomorrow evening, stay tuned to our Facebook Page to see when that update goes live! :)

Roller Soaker Deconstruction Pictures...

Unread postby BrandonStrouphauer » Thu Dec 13, 2012 7:31 pm

Here it is, folks! Roller Soaker appears to be under deconstruction......

This proves the area is a construction zone.
Image

This MIGHT just be an old ticket booth from the days that seasonal events at the park still used pay-per-ride, but, they used this as security at Skyrush's construction update. This is sitting right at the gate by Soaker, will it be used for the same purpose as it was with Skyrush? We can assume it is....

Roller Soaker's lapbars!

Soaker's trains...
Image

The wheels appear to be off...
Image

A few supports have this orange piece of tape, I wonder what it could mean?
Image

The ramp might appear to be normal in THIS picture....
Image

But....there SHOULD be metal/steel bars here that people walk over, so this means that the rumors ARE true, and the ramp IS IN FACT being taken apart....
Image

I'm pretty sure there should be some railing on this section...
Image

There was also a roll of caution tape up on the station, wonder what they're going to be using that for??

So, based off these photos, it appears Roller Soaker's deconstruction has begun...now we wait for the official announcement from the park.
